CHEMLOGIC / PRIVACY

Your chemistry stays yours.

We want ChemLogic to be useful without requiring personal accounts or collecting information about what you analyse.

What the tools process

Our current molarity, dilution, mass/moles and introductory FTIR peak lookup features run in your browser. We do not send the numerical values, chemical names or FTIR wavenumbers you enter to our analytics service.

Optional aggregate website metrics

When analytics is enabled, the website sends a small event indicating a page view, a successful calculation or a successful FTIR lookup. These events are added to daily counters. We do not write visitors’ IP addresses, email addresses, raw URLs, spectra, calculator inputs or persistent visitor identifiers to ChemLogic's analytics data store.

These counters expire after 120 days. Browsers that communicate a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control preference are excluded by our client-side analytics tracker where supported. Browser privacy tools may also block these events.

Contact messages, feedback and feature suggestions

Submitting these forms is optional. We store the message, its category, any alias you supply, and any email address you choose to provide in a private administrator inbox, hosted through our database provider. A contact email is required only when you select a direct contact request. We do not automatically email messages or transfer them to a marketing list. Inbox records expire after approximately 90 days, unless they are copied into a separate response workflow.

Moderated chemistry questions and replies

Questions and replies are submitted privately for review. If approved, their question title or reply, the submitted text, display alias and posting date become publicly visible. No account or email address is required or collected for discussion. Do not include identifying, confidential, proprietary, medical or case-related information. Our moderators may reject or remove content. Discussion records and approved responses expire from our application storage after approximately 365 days.

Security and misuse prevention

To limit spam, our submission service temporarily stores pseudonymous, secret-keyed hashes derived from connection addresses for hourly and daily rate limits. It does not store the original address in the application inbox. These rate-limiting keys expire automatically within two days. Hosting and infrastructure services may keep standard connection/security logs under their own policies. These submission controls are separate from our anonymous page-view analytics.

AI-assisted development and accuracy

ChemLogic was developed with the assistance of artificial intelligence. AI-assisted code, scientific explanations, calculations and educational material can contain mistakes. Users should independently verify important information and review the AI Assistance & Disclaimer before relying on results.

Administrator access

Only our site administrator uses GitHub OAuth to sign in to the private backstage. Administrative authentication uses secure session cookies; the public chemistry tools do not require an account.

Infrastructure providers

ChemLogic is hosted on Vercel, with optional aggregate counter storage on Upstash. These providers and your internet service may process ordinary connection or security logs under their own privacy policies. The statements above describe what ChemLogic itself chooses to store.

These community forms are enabled only when secure server-side storage has been configured. Chemistry discussion content is educational and not reviewed or validated for laboratory, safety-critical, medical or forensic decision-making.

To report a post or ask for removal of a submission, use our contact and feedback page.
